A tool you need to heal...

You underestimate the power of meditation
Healing is never linear, you'll always have highs and lows.
God knows I've had my fair share of those low moments lately.
When I get caught up in low vibration, I tend to slip off the good habits I've come to form over time. Habits like my morning walks, exercising, meditation, reading etc.
The only thing that somehow sticks is my journaling... which I'm so thankful for.
Anyway, back to the topic at hand...
So am sharing with a friend, right?! And she tells me meditation has never worked for her. And I realise it’s a phrase I've heard so many times before from different people including my own sisters.
Thing is, mediation will not look the same for everyone and there are different techniques to explore. Some people resonate with seated mediation, others prefer walking meditation, silent or chanting meditation etc.
Back to the basics
My go to technique has always been seated meditation ever since I started meditating some few years ago.
Here's how to start your meditation journey;
Find the right time in your day to meditate (I like to meditate first thing in the morning). Set a side about 5 minutes to start with and build up from there.
Sit in a quiet place with no distractions. Sit with your back straight, your heart in line with your pelvis.
Start noticing your body and the sensations you feel as you start taking slowing down your breath.
As you continue to breathe deeply, close your eyes and mentally scan your body from the top of your head to the soles of your feet. Do this slowly and notice any sensations, discomfort or pain present. Then imagine your breath softening any unpleasant sensations.
Start paying attention to your mind, where it is or where it’s going. If you notice it drifting with thoughts, bring your mind back to your breathe, concentrate on the rising and falling of your chest with each breath you take.
Use your breath as a soothing balm to heal and love on your broken and wounded parts.
Process how you feel receiving all that love from yourself and from God.
End the session with a positive and kind word to yourself.
The Healing
Meditation is a powerful tool that can help you both mentally and spiritually.
It helps you have a different perspective on life by forcing you to slow down, be present and look inwards.
You learn to become more self-aware. You learn to see your thoughts for exactly what they are... thoughts, not your reality. Which in turn can helps reduce your levels of stress and anxiety.
I'd like to encourage you to take up meditation as a daily practice. It is a great addition to your healing tool belt.
I truly believe mediation is a non-negotiable tool for healing and for life in general.
Love & light,
Christine
