God wants you to rest - A Healing Poem

He gives rest

The morning sun rises again,

My heart feels heavy again.

Why, I wonder and say, am I here again.

A good night’s rest was mine

I slept like a baby… as they say

Why, my heart, again, are you trouble? I say.

Then a thought comes to my head,

Oh sorry… not a thought, as I said…

More like a soft voice speaking and my heart stills.

I take a deep breathe and remember last nights events…

I worked, I read, I wrote, I prayed.

The soft voice whispers, you did well, it says.

The soft voice whispers, you need rest, my friend.

The burdens you carry are not yours but mine,

The burdens you carry, am strong enough to take.

I take a deep breathe and tell my heart,

Let go, little one, let go and trust God.

For we deserve rest, because we did well.

Love & light,
Christine
